VMware Explore 2022

VMware Explore, formerly VMworld, is happening next month and if you haven’t registered yet now’s the time. The future of multi-cloud is here, and VMware is at the center of innovation. I’m going to give you four reasons why VMware Explore is the event you don’t want to miss.

IT IS IN-PERSON

This is important because the connections made in person are powerful. We have been 2 years without the steady stream of in-person events. These lost connections are gone forever, so the sooner you can get back out there, the quicker we can start to make up for lost time. I wrote a blog on this concept back in April you can read here.

I have been fortunate enough to attend over a dozen in-person events this year and it has been great to be out and about seeing and making new friends. I am getting back to in-person events with a renewed appreciation of these events, the folks who put these events on, and the attendees who engage others at these events.

MULTI-CLOUD IS EVERYTHING

The industry is going to multi-cloud. VMware is in almost every enterprise, commercial, and small business in the world. VMware is and will be a player in the future of computing. Who better to learn how this is going to affect you and your company than VMware? Come and learn about how vSphere is the foundation for your multi-cloud future.

Earlier this year, I attended Dell Tech World in-person. Dell provides infrastructure for on-premises data centers. They need companies like yours to buy their servers and compute. Even at Dell Tech World, they mentioned how Dell uses hyperscalers. This struck me because the pivot to multi-cloud world has fully happened if Dell is mentioning this on main keynote stage.

VMWARE ACCESS

There is a long debate of the best place for VMware Explore to be held. Some like San Fransico and some do not. It’s in San Fran and one reason that’s good is so many VMware employees are close to San Fran. That means more VMware employees will be there and access to VMware is a huge benefit to this event.

FUN

Covid has impacted us all and coming to an event like this if fun. Yes, we are here for work, but we all need work life balance and getting educated with keynotes and sessions doesn’t mean we can’t have fun. That fun could be in the hallway bumping into an old friend, skipping a session to buy a coffee and catch up with someone you’ve seen face-to-face for the first time in 2 years, the vendor parties always bring a smile, or the infamous VMware party at the end of the event.

Of course, VMUG has the epic member party Monday night at Spin where hundreds of VMUG members will gather and catch up.

I’ll be at Explore and want you to be there too. If you are not able to come in-person, there is a virtual component you can attend. I encourage you, if you feel comfortable, to attend in-person. In-person events can’t compare to virtual events because of the people. People make things better and a group of people make them great.

It’s been two years, explore what’s it’s like to attend a large conference again.
